Back home
And Grizz n Voo are ECSTATIC to see me.
Went straight to work on Buffalo as soon as I had settled in a few. Da m I stopped at a place mid-trip and I bought a cooling system pressure tester. A good one, similar in build to the old Snapon unit I owned waybackawhen (that I sold, along with many other tools I long for still, during divorce,, )
Refilled the system, waited for it to cycle through a couple times (operating temp) and hooked up that tester and pumped it up to 16psi. No moisture from tail pipe, no leaks visible anywhere.
Hmmm?
That I keep developing an air pocket and that coolant is dissappearing is fact: somethingbis leaking, period, end discussion. Ok, so, shut it off, leave pressure on it and take my kiddies for a walk.
Sat for an hour, pressure dropped 1 psi. Restart vehicle. White vapor from tail pipe. Head gaskets are leaking. *sigh*
I was hoping it wasnt so, but don’t blast me over it. I can do the work, or I could bandaid it, but I HATEZ bandaids. Its not a huge leak, obviously, but it IS a liability if I can’t drive more than 60 miles without seeing temperatures climbing.
So currently, I baby the shit out of Buffalo while I await parts to arrive. Found a hella deal (thanks for the legwork Monk) on a gasket set WITH headbolts and manifold bolts. And when I get into this mess, I have a new radiator that I will install at the same time. May as well since I have solid reason to believe the one in it is original and likely partially blocked, adding further headaches to my diag issues.(I’ve had that Rad but didn’t see a need up til recent.)
Life goes on and I see a week long break to work on my shit forthcoming. April is gonna be expensive,,,,
