I think you’re right about this… Trying to tie down a load with the bossman’s will be a PITA at best. Even if we weld a bunch of cleats along the outside rail, it’s still not going to be as secure as the sides with the gaps between the rails.
Throw a few sticks of bar stock in the back. Then ask the big cheese to come out and tie it down. Then sit back and laugh as his frustration.

I gave up ‘educating’ him. He has to find out for himself, always. Like his wanting to use 1/2″ plate to cover the bed with. If he hadn’t seen us struggling to lift the damned plate, he would have insisted on that was the way to go. EVEN THOUGH, you would never have been able to put a load on the truck since it would have been hauling one 24/7 with that bed on it.
I have the pics, and when he first goes to use the truck for hauling something not taller than the sides, he’ll figure it out ROFL.
