in my defense, I don’t use that part of my cranial based system like I did 30 years ago (chripes, where has the time gone????)

first problem as the code reader.  wouldn’t work, drove me nuts.  Solution: replace the 15A fuse to that section of the electrical system (cigarette lighter/OBDII interface)

Hey, lookydere, scanner works just flippin fine.   Didn’t tell me much I didn’t already know; like there was a misfire,,, DUH!!!  but it also told me oodles about what was going on downstream of that misfire, and that I have an EVAP canister issue to boot.  

So, misfire #3, totally dead cylinder, check the cap and rotor to make sure they aren’t an issue,,,,   nopes, good to go.   Pull the plug wire and give it a once over.  Can’t see nuttin,,,

Aw, whatthehell,, swap out #3 with #5 and see what happens.  See if the misfire walks over to 5 or not,,,,

What misfire?

Buff is running smooth as smooth.  or about as smooth as a 4.3L chevy small block can run (which is rather smooth to be honest.)

Ok, put it to the test.  Left foot pushing the brake pedal to the firewall, and right foot pushing the accelerator.   SMOOTTTTTTHHHHHHHHHHH.   Even managed to get one rear tire loose from the brake and spin for a second before I let off.  LOTS of power again.

ROAD TEST (after clearing those danged codes out. )

20 miles.  a fresh tank of high-test to offset the possible bad batch,,,   no hiccups, belches, or farts,,,   She’s running good.   MIL is relit, but its that Evap canister code (that really does NOTHING much at all, other than give drivability techs massive headaches.).  yeah, she had been running shit rough: 11mpg on that last tank,,,   OUCH!   and 1/6th of that was pumped straight to ATmo via a dead cylinder.

anywhooos,  OOK here is gonna load up a kayak for the rest of the weekend and try to relax, all while listening to Buffalo snicker like an incorrigible child playing a bad prank on a parent. (and I am picking up plug wires and other odd parts while its fresh on my simple little mind for the future repairs that are gonna happen,,,,). 

dense I may be, but I do evolve quickly.
