Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it – no matter if I have said it! – except it agree with your own reason and your own common sense.” – Siddhartha Gautama, a.k.a. the Buddha

One of the most meaningful books I’ve read, up there with Atlas Shrugged. To me, the message of his book is that you always have a choice no matter the coercion they might bring on you. Each of us has to be able to recognize it in time, though. As he said, if you wait until you’ve been starved for a year and are naked being run into a ditch, it’s too late then. Also credit him with being the first place I’ve heard “the first one is expensive, the rest are free”
