How should I put this???

Old music is kicking the new musics butt.
I don’t feel its just music either. Even in that article, they mention older tv series are more popular than the crap pushed on the public by the usual suspects.
Even some of the stuff I watched with my brief stint in Netfix (intentional misspelling) had me, the dude without a tube for 12 years, shaking my head at the ‘programming undertones’. If I hadn’t unplugged years ago, it would have been subtle enough to avoid detection, but I’ve been ‘away’ long enough that the efforts were obvious and obnoxious. (Who ever believes there were feminazis within the Viking tribes,,,, just saying.)
As for the music,,yeah, that I totally understand. Sadly, the whole industry (mainline, not necessarily the indie stuff) is now immersed in pitch correction and synthbands.
Its part of that decentralization movement, from industry being the paramount provider to small independent producers providing better products on a smaller more eclectic scale. I was seeing this as far back as 2005 in the music scene where the best acts I dealt with, the most talented and innovative acts, were small bands that refused to be picked up by ‘the labels’. Yeah, they coulda sold out, but then the label would start dictating HOW they could work. It was taking off then under utoob before utoob was bought by giggles. Other platforms have been taking stage since then and the music scene is always on top of what paltform gives them the most freedom.
I’m no fan of teh ‘Zon, but it does stick to some of its early principles for writers. And even it is slowly being replaced by other platforms: platforms that are keyed for writers/readers vs everyday shoppers. (I’m investigating as many options as I can find for indie-pub. Gotta cover as many bases as I can, right?)
Places like Etsy opening up cottage industry again. Options abound and not just for writers, or musicians. There are even platforms for getting your own skills advertised, even if you’re just a handyman.(just a handyman? *cough hack*)
The world is evolving, thanks to webs, and the structures built in yesteryears are scared shitless. Those structures are governments AND Corporate types. People are finding they dont need all that hype to be comfortable, happy AND productive.
What an exciting time to be alive.
