It’s called a job, silly!
And J. O. B. it is. And one I am enjoying more than I can express.
Will it pan out? Dunno and don’t really care. It’s a side of me I hadn’t realized I enjoyed so much. The only other ‘job’ I enjoyed as much was mixing live sound. I used jokingly say, “they pay me for load in and load out, I mix the shows for free. In hindsight, I wasn’t joking; I would have mixed any of those shows for the sheer joy of it.(and I did pay to mix, in one instance, and had one of my dreams come true) The same goes for the writing I am doing. I ‘try’ for 1000 words a day, and there are days where the words just don’t want to come. Then there are days where the words flow like liquid mercury on glass. Those nights fly by so fast, its usually dawn when I come up out of the muse. Some of those nights are where what I write, has to be ‘set aside’, though I have stopped ’round-filing’ such: it may not ‘fit’ right now, but,,, Much easier to ‘file off the serial numbers and slap a different name plate on it’ later, than try and build from scratch. And there is one instance in the current story where the chapter is just such: different names used from the original, but it dropped right in like it was made to be there.
To fill ya all in: the original story as aired here, wrapped in at 36000 words which would have made a very short novella, but not much better. About 110 pages. I decided to ‘fill it out’ expanding character development, and divvy it up into three ‘acts’ for the first go round. It will be one book, with the potential of a series. I want to see how I feel about it at the end. It may be that I kill it off at the end. Then again, could be a cliff-hanger ending. Will see, and funny thing is, I dont even know yet. I am working on ‘proper ‘ writing styles and setting a plot and line in advance, but this story has been one of spontaneity from the git-go, and remains so now.
It is growing, but not quite ready for prime-time yet. I beg a little more patience from y’all, and not just with the story, but with my blogging as well.
