Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it – no matter if I have said it! – except it agree with your own reason and your own common sense.” – Siddhartha Gautama, a.k.a. the Buddha

Airborn axioms

  • Take-off is optional, landing is mandatory.
  • Flying:6 hours of sheer boredom followed by 6 minutes of sheer panic.
  • Double check your double check then do the idiots check, just in case.(and if you dont do the last you are the idiot.)
  • Know your controls, know your instruments, and fix either before it becomes “THE” problem.
  • Failures don’t just happen, they cascade.

And last but not least ,

    • Every aircraft comes with an expiration date,  don’t get too attached to it, or be in it when it arrives.

      • Not repairable. Snapped the spars on both wings and snapped the one off, damaged both wing root and a section of the fusilage. Stripped it of parts and gave it the flaming death it wished for. But yeah, steep learning curve. And other than the wasted time, that I would have wasted in other ways if not, loving this new “school”.

    2. Oh yeah Spud, the ‘target’ was quite a bit bigger than a tree. This was a take off getting quite fudged, and at speed no less. Balsa is good, but not THAT good.

      • Sadly, the plane and my truck gave me a bad start to the year. Dropped the pinion bearing on the diff midday Jan 1, and the plane went cartwheeling later the next day.
Agreed though, only a more days, but I hadnt thought about depends stock, the diaper pins are gonna need em.
